CULMINATING ACTIVITY

  1. Children use art props to create a Rainforest in the classroom. Use a humidifier to create a muggy environment
  2. Children act as tour guides of the rainforest for parents, another class, or friends. Some children give the tour, some are in charge of the snack, some help put on a puppet show, some make tickets, some sing songs, etc.
  3. Children have a variety of chores during the rainforest tour.
  4. Complete the tour with a social, fun activity, such a snack with songs. Long-term memory occurs when there is an emotional event connected to learning. Remember that a culminating event allows the children to bring closure to the project.
  5. This project could lead to a bug unit of study. Go to the Archives on the pic web site to get some buggy ideas. You could also tie into ecology, saving Mother Earth, or recycling.
Hope you all had fun in the rainforest.
