This month we will pretend to go on a camping trip and will take some time to observe Mother Nature. Here are some simple activities that you can do at home to support your child's learning:

  1. Take walks to the park and play I Spy
    • "I spy a squirrel".
    • "I spy a robin".
    • "I spy ants."
  2. Go to a local store and buy a small unpainted bird house. Have your child paint and decorate, then hang outside.
  3. Every day place some bird seed outside and observe who comes to nibble.
  4. Listen at night for summer sounds: crickets, owls, etc.
  5. Let your children make a tent inside or outside using a small blanket. Invite some friends over to blow some bubbles or pack a small picnic lunch.
  6. Make walkie-talkies with string and soup cans.
  7. Tell camping bedtime stories.

Be part of your child's learning as they discover the Great Outdoors and fun of summertime.
